COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. - Medical marijuana is now allowed in Collier County schools.
The Collier County Public Schools passed on Policy 5330.05 Medical Marijuana unanimously Tuesday morning.
CCPS already has a procedure in place for students who need to take medical marijuana.
The state of Florida is asking all school districts to adopt a policy to make the rules clear.
Now, students in Collier County schools can be administered medical marijuana by a caregiver in a designated area decided by the principal.
School staff and nurses won't be able to give the students medical marijuana.
However, it won't be allowed to be stored on campus because it's not approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
